About Us
Welcome to The Typewriter Nook
We are a husband and wife team who have been selling antiques for 30 or more years. We have sold furniture, antiques and collectibles. Occasionally we sold typewriters if we found an interesting one. We each grew up in Oregon. Mike’s family raised chickens and Dianne’s family had a dairy farm. We still live on a farm but now we raise hazelnuts (filberts for you native Oregonians). We have deep roots in our community with Dianne’s relatives coming on a wagon train in 1843 to the area.
In 2016 Mike brought home 10 typewriters from an estate sale. That was the beginning… Over the last 8 years we have learned something new about typewriters almost every day! We have started our own collection. Our oldest typewriter is a 1899 Oliver No. 2 and our newest is a 1930 Corona 4.
Mike does an overall cleaning and does repairs on typewriters which we sell. Dianne then does the fine cleaning to make sure they are as good as can be without taking them apart. We are not professionals and we do not take them totally apart and refurbish them. We do make sure there are no sticky keys, that they type smoothly and that they have new ribbons installed. We use Baco Ribbons made in the USA and they are great quality! We clean them so they are ready to go to their new home.
We do buy typewriters locally so you can contact us if you have one to sell.
Feel free to email us at thetypewriternook@gmail.com
We hope you enjoy your typewriters as much as we do.
