Welcome to The Typewriter Nook

We are so pleased you have stopped by. Here we will share with you the typewriters we collect and those we sell.

We do not claim to be experts but amateur collectors. We still learn something new about typewriters almost every day. There are some wonderful websites about repair and maintenance, some awesome you-tubes and great books. We will give you links from time to time.

Did you know that the great Tom Hanks has over 250 in his collection! So if you are a collector you are in good company. Typewriters have not went the way of the dinosaur!

If you put a typewriter in front of a child, you will be amazed. They are so fascinated. Our two grandchildren could not wait to start typing.

Here we will share with you tips and facts about different typewriters. When we write about a typewriter, we will show you where to find the serial number, what to expect and what time frame these typewriters were manufactured. We will share interesting links about typewriters and share other typewriter collectibles.

We want to show you the basic care of a typewriter and so much more. Now if you are a seasoned collector or typewriter expert, this will probably be boring to you. We apologize for that but hope you can find some interesting facts or items on our website.

Reading our website will let you know which typewriters we have for sale. If you subscribe you will be kept up to date on what we have found and what we are selling.

The typewriters we sell are ready to go to a new home and use immediately. We do not sell typewriters that need to go to the shop for a repair before beginning to type. The typewriters are not going to look like they did when they came from the factory. We do not repaint or touch up paint. There may be wear or scratches which to me shows they were used.

To get a typewriter ready for sale we do the following.

  • Blow out the dust & debris
  • Check to make sure there are no sticky keys or nonfunctioning typebars
  • Verify all parts are working correctly.
  • Clean all parts as needed – we do not take the entire typewriter apart as some pros do. If we did, we would have to raise the prices.
  • Lubricate where needed
  • Install new ribbon
  • Clean the carrying case

Thank you and we hope you will visit again.
